Significant Accomplishments
- Expanded the Adolescent Offender Program (AOP) community services to include all 82 counties and provide services to youth statewide.
- Expanded the Youth Assessment Screening Instrument (YASI) to a web-based system for community staff to provide testing and scoring prior to youth committed to Oakley.
- Partnered with the Administrative Office of the Courts and their MYCIDS program and DYS’s CMS program to combine efforts to expand the electronic filing system capabilities for all youth courts statewide.
- Established electronic fingerprinting to expedite the DYS hiring process and provide for safety in hiring staff to work with youth.
- Closed Columbia Training School and completed successful transition of female students into the Oakley facility.
- Achieved full academic and vocational accreditation with the Mississippi Department of Education, Office of School Accreditation.
- Expanded mental health contractual services at Oakley to improve level of treatment.
